I booked ardoe for a two night stay, I was very disappointed by my visit. I checked in around 9pm and the service at the desk was poor, I got to my room and it was filthy; dirty glasses, sink and shower covered in pink body fat, layer of dust over the kettle, towels shoved on the towel rail, stains on the ironing board. The next morning, I requested to move rooms as it was not clean. The reception supervisor was very helpful, and got a different room arranged for me. Unfortunately, this room was not clean either as the bathroom bin had not been emptied - this was a room that had apparently been “checked by housekeeping team”. The kettle was also broken in the second room. Very disappointing for a four star hotel and I will not be returning.

So where do I begin it was my second time staying at this hotel in the last 4 months, and it doesn't disappoint hence the reason why I went back I would just like to say a big thank you to all the F&B staff they acted very professionally and interacted with us in a very friendly manner I would also like to give a big shout out to the ladies that work in the Leisure department as well one of them was called Jamie she's lovely very professional and nurse how to give a really good massage and also to the reception staff again very professional upon check-in genuine smiles and they also did something really nice for my friend's birthday I will always come back to this hotel because you guys are absolutely amazing and also a big thank you to Dean that works in the main bar he made me a lovely cocktail that wasn't even on the menu and from both me and my friend we thank you all as we will be back again - Kindest Regards Daz

Slightly out of town but beautiful, quiet setting. Staff are super helpful and rooms clean and spacious. Food is good too with a variety of options either on the bar menu or restaurant. Highly recommend

Booked a feature room , which was lovely with roll top bath . Unfortunately large damp patches above bed head board, and by window on ceiling . Room decoration tired. Staff were amazing , very helpful . The food in restaurant was excellent , Jake the waiter was lovely and very helpful. Bar man Dean also lovely . Overall lovely stay . Didn’t use spa as was exceptionally busy . Building is beautiful, grounds also very nice.

Characterful Scots baronial property. Convenient location. Friendly, welcoming staff. Comfortable, quiet room with large attached en-suite. Delicious food.

This review is for the spa only. It’s a lovely spa with a beautiful pool, nice jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The staff are approachable and friendly. The cleanliness is not great, it needs to be improved - the sinks in the ladies changing area always appear to be dirty and the disabled toilet is not welcoming. Some facilities need upgraded and cleaned more often.

Didn't go inside or stayed but just went to see the place. Outside scenery is awesome and there is a farm right next to it down the hill with a couple of highland cows which are very friendly and came right up to us close to the fence. Took nice pictures of the cows and places around. There are legends of the Ardoe house top floor being haunted which makes it even more intriguing place to visit.

Our room was nice but unfortunately the Christmas Day lunch was a shambles and not worth the £100 pp fee. A young team of waiters and waitresses worked hard but were clearly understaffed and poorly led by invisible managers, which led to a series of frustrations, such as: - No waiter/waitress was assigned to our table which meant that we were constantly having to flag down passing staff to order drinks, chase drinks and all our courses, clean the table and so on. - Unreasonable delay in receiving drinks or food; we had been sat down for 1hr 30minutes and only received a pre-made stater (which was nice enough). - When it was time for the main course there was an inconvenient wait of over 30 minutes for the Turkey (but the lunch itself was nice enough). We made the most of this frustrating experience, enjoying each others’ company and drinking plenty of fizz, but the occasion was definitely compromised by the fact that the hotel were ill prepared to effectively run a Christmas Day lunch for so many people. Some guest left during their meal and others were seen complaining. A manager eventually appeared to talk to us, and two bottles of Prosecco were given to us for free, but I would not wish to return here for a Christmas Day lunch again.

Amazing hotel. Staff couldn't do enough for us. We had a dog friendly room, which was at the end of a very long corridor. Handy to take the dog out.

Everything to Like—A Memorable 60th Birthday Stay I didn’t book the stay myself, but I believe my 60th birthday was mentioned in the comments during the reservation. The welcome chocolates were a wonderfully thoughtful and unexpected gesture—delicious and much appreciated. Our room (a Privileged Room) was clean, warm, and comfortable. The bed ensured a great night’s sleep, and I particularly appreciated the walk-in shower in the en-suite. A big hooray for the full-sized container of shower gel, a much better choice than those tiny bottles that inevitably need recycling. The food was superb. We dined twice—once in the bar and once in the restaurant—and, of course, enjoyed breakfast as well. I’d argue that wherever you choose to eat at Ardoe House, you’re experiencing fine dining. Generous portions of expertly cooked, delicious food with no stuffiness or pretension—just sheer culinary delight from chefs who clearly know their craft inside out. The spa was excellent. We used the pool, sauna, and steam room. Do keep in mind that getting to the spa requires venturing outside. Next time, especially in winter, I might opt for warmer clothes over the robe for the short walk! The team at Ardoe House were brilliant—so many nationalities represented, all working seamlessly together. It makes me wonder why the world outside the walls of a well-run hotel so often struggles with harmony. One thing to note: having independent transport is definitely an advantage if you stay here. A taxi to Aberdeen costs around £15 each way, and that can add up quickly. I’d love to return and stay for longer—two nights simply wasn’t enough to take full advantage of everything on offer.

Had a Spa Day with a few friends, booked the £69 deal but it isn’t the bargain we thought we’d got. The spa treatments were fine enough. However, 2 of my friends didn’t get a chance to change beforehand so received massages while wearing their tights? They were also shocked to see one of them was pregnant, even though we were there for a baby shower and had emailed several times about this before booking. We were never offered our £10 spa voucher. The “light lunch” we were offered was a sandwich, which came with a handful of rocket and crisps. I’ve had better at garden centres. They whole day was a bit rushed and a bit rubbish for what we spent, we emailed after to address our concerns and it’s taken 3 weeks to come to any resolution. The lack of aftercare has soured it even more. There doesn’t seem to be a manager and if there is, I’d be surprised if that is who we have been speaking too. Will never return, purely due to the abysmal handling of our complaint afterwards.

I stayed here about a month ago and was not impressed. Stained pillows, marks on the wall next to the bin, one of the bottles of water provided had already been partially consumed by a previous guest, and the cleaner appeared to have a back problem as the bottom of the shower screen and back of the bathroom door had not been cleaned. The room felt dirty due to the above and the staff at reception didn't seem overly concerned or offer a sincere apology. I would not stay here again.

Just back from an incredible stay at Ardoe House Hotel – honestly, one of the best Hotels I’ve been to in a long time! What a belter of a mansion, with traditionally decorated rooms that ooze charm and showcase beautiful period features. A lovely log fires crackling away when you walk in, super friendly check-in and the food was nothing short of superb. The staff were fantastic, and as for the bed? So super comfy, the pillows were tip top. And to top it all off, the breakfast was simply amazing. Can’t recommend this place enough; will definitely be coming back here next month.

First impression of the hotel is that it’s very grand looking from the outside. Inside, in some areas, the hotel needs updating, other areas could get away with no chance as they pass for more of a classic old fashioned vibe. The hotel rooms are nice enough and the en suites are lovely. I was looking forwards to using the spa and gym facilities - it’s great to stay in a hotel that has this. As much as I enjoyed using it, the spa seemed dirty. The changing rooms were absolutely disgusting with what looked like years of dust and hair all over the benches and floors. Because of this I doubted the cleanliness of the sauna and gym equipment.

A lovely place to stay while working away. Although the food is above average on price, the quality and quantity of the food levels the price. Rooms are spacious and nicely decorated.

My husband and I got married at Ardoe over the weekend and I couldn’t reccomend the venue enough! Interior and the grounds are so stunning and make the perfect backdrop. Eilidh and the rest of the events team are so fab and nothing was too big an ask. Throughout the whole wedding planning process we had various meetings to go over our wants and needs for the wedding and the team were so adaptable and allowed us to amend some parts of the package to fit our ideas which was so appreciated. On the day the team was always at hand and checking in if we needed anything which was so appreciated. I would 100% reccomend anyone looking for a central wedding location without being in center of town to visit Ardoe. It’s so beautiful and you won’t be disappointed. Thank you all for the work you put in to our big day! The new Mr and Mrs Kidd x

I haven't stayed in the hotel. I visit the spa as a guest. Their steam room has been broken for months. It's been out of order for my last 6 visits. Yet, they still charge the full price for entry, despite one of their four facilities being out of order. If asked, staff always 'don't know' or say 'we've arranged for someone to come and fix the thermostat'. The rest of the place looks tired and shabby. Everywhere you look you'll see mold, flaking paint, rust, water stains. The glass front of the sauna is filthy and look like it hasn't been cleaned in months. Last time I went, the water in the hot tub was cold. The whole facility has a run down feel to it. Although they have recently had nice new lockers put into the changing rooms. For the same entry price of 15 pounds you can use the beautiful pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi at Alten's Hotel which is about 10 minutes away by car. Their facility is clean and well-maintained. I suggest Ardoe House modernize their facility or drop their entry price.
